Atlantic Electric, LLC specializes in all phases of airport lighting. We have proven that we can work in the most challenging environments as a prime contractor or support a team effort in the construction of a new runway as a key subcontractor. Our goal is to provide a high quality finished product for our customers so that Atlantic Electric, LLC is the first choice for the next airfield lighting project. Our knowledgeable office staff has the experience to pursue a design-build airfield lighting project if the need arises. We have constructed three design-build airfield lighting projects in the last ten years to the applicable UFC, NAVAIR and FAA standards.  The experience of our office and field personnel sets us apart from our competition. Many of our electricians have more than 20 years of experience working on active airfields.

Design-Build and Repair Airfield Lighting at Davidson Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, VA

November 2017- Present, Subcontract Amount $2 Million+

Design-Build replacement of airfield runway lighting to meet current airfield regulations and add new airfield lighting to existing helipad. Work includes all new taxiway, runway threshold and helipad lights, PAPI’s and MALSR approach lighting. Provide and install airfield series cable, PVC conduits, complete grounding and counterpoise system, HDPE pipes for directional boring, light base cans and snow plow rings. Install new regulators in the vault building and add breakers as necessary to feed the new regulators. Provide new fiber optic cable from ATCT to vault building for ALCMS if necessary.

Replace Upgrade Taxiway Whiskey, Joint Base Andrews, MD

October 2017 to Present, Subcontract Amount $2.1 Million+

Provide runway and taxiway lighting systems and visual navigation aids for the reconstruction of Taxiway Whiskey. The airfield work consists of removing the existing taxiway lighting, signage and duct banks; installing new concrete encased PVC duct banks including cables, cable tags, blow strings, pull mandrels, counterpoise wire and ground rods; install junction can plazas complete with PVC conduits for electrical and drainage; provide splicing and termination of medium-voltage cables; core drill and install light base cans and drain pipes for light cans; furnish and install taxiway and runway lights complete with snow plow rings, grounding and counterpoise system; install guidance signs with new concrete sign foundations/pads; provide and install new 15Kva regulator.

Langley Airfield & PAPI Replacement, Langley AFB, VA

July 2017 to Present, Subcontract Amount $8.9 Million+

The project consists of replacement of the airfield lighting and airfield signage circuiting for the Joint Base Langley-Eustis airfield runway and taxiways. The work involves replacement of the runway and taxiway lights, airfield signage circuits, runway 08 threshold lights, wind socks, PAPI lights on each runway end (08 and 26), all constant current regulators with new switchgear style CCR system, and the associated lighting circuits, power circuits, cabling, ducts, etc. and replacement of the airfield lighting electrical vault constant current regulators and interior electrical distribution equipment.

Design Bid Build Modernization of Airfield Lighting Phase 3 and 4, Virginia Beach, VA

July 2017 to Present, Subcontract Amount $11.9 Million+

The project is for Phases 3 and 4 of the $63.7 million “Special Project” for energy and reliability modernization of airfield lighting. Atlantic Electric’s work includes removal of the existing airfield electrical distribution system and equipment, and removal and disposal the fuel tank associated with the demolition of the existing lighting vaults and generator buildings. The new electrical distribution system includes precast manholes/handholes, ductbanks and junction cans, provide horizontal directional boring, new medium voltage transformers, concrete pads, complete grounding and counterpoise system and medium voltage circuiting with integration into ALCMS, provide and install all medium voltage cable terminations and NETA Testing for all gear, cables and grounding. The new airfield lighting includes core drilling for and installation of new light base cans with snow plow rings, concrete placement and finishing for all light bases, thresholds, sign pads, wind cone foundations, etc., new approach lighting, wave-off systems, arresting gear battery charger work, communications & fiber optic cabling, installation of runway edge lights, wave-off lights, runway centerline lights, complete threshold light bar installation, airfield sign installation/modifications.

Modernization of Airfield Lighting Phase 1 and 2, Virginia Beach, VA

September 2015 to Present, Subcontract Amount $34 Million+

The Oceana project is a $63.7 million “Special Project” involving refurbishment and replacement of existing airfield pavements, lighting and vault buildings. Runways 14 Left – 32 Right will be reconstructed entirely in Portland cement concrete, including re-grading and paving of runway shoulders and taxiways. The existing airfield runway and taxiway electrical infrastructure will be demolished and replaced. Three electrical vaults will be renovated, expanding one into a new superstructure and two additional vaults will be constructed. Atlantic Electric, LLC is responsible for demolition of existing airfield fixtures, wiring, conduits, duct banks, manholes, handholes and electrical equipment; installation of new airfield lighting including complete grounding and counterpoise system; all new airfield signs, concrete sign foundations & pads; complete threshold light bar installation; SFL system; precast manholes & handholes and ductbank installation; directional boring; medium voltage gear, 15kV cable, terminations and cable tags; fireproofing in the manholes; new wave-off systems; fiber optic power and communications; fuel pit floodlighting and fuel pit (Explosion Proof) pushbutton stations; complete fiber optic cable system and complete new ALCMS system. Vaults E-145, E-101 requires new CCR switchgear regulators; relocate existing ALSF master cabinets; provide new 200kW genset with sub-base fuel tank and concrete pad; catwalk; complete bollards and grounding system. The medium voltage work at Vault 3036 will provide for a new pad mount switch that will be tied into the building. Atlantic Electric, LLC will also provide one new CCR switchgear full size lifts and two small size lift that will be turned over to the government for the vaults. Portions of Vault E-3015 will be renovated and will receive new CCR switchgear regulators; 150kW generator with sub-base fuel tank and concrete pad and a new grounding system.

Repair Airfield Lighting, Andrews, AFB, Maryland

October 2017 to Present, Subcontract Amount $2.1 Million+

New Airfield Lighting at Charleston AFB

December 2016 to Present, Subcontract Amount $1.3 Million+

The project consists of the complete reconstruction of approximately 3,000 LF of Taxiway Delta as well as pavement repairs for the remainder of Taxiway Delta. Atlantic Electric is installing the new airfield lighting and signage. The work involves removing all fixtures, isolation transformers, wiring in conduit and signs from concrete pads; setting new airfield light bases in the concrete; installing new airfield lighting fixtures and transformer stand at each light fixture; core drilling for light base cans through the finished pavement surface and installing L-868B can extensions and/or spacer rings, etc. to complete installation of the cans at the proper elevation and sealing around the flange rings/extension; installing cable tags; providing and installing new sign pads and signs; providing underground directional boring; installing all ductbanks including conduits, counterpoise ground rods, blow strings and pull mandrels; installing pull cans and handholes.
